Childhood and Early life
Samantha Ruth Prabhu was born on 28 April 1987 to her father Prabhu, who is Telugu, and her mother Ninette, who is Malayali. She has two older brothers named Jonathan and David. They all grew up in Chennai and learned to speak Tamil and English. Samantha completed her schooling at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and then enrolled in Stella Maris College to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. It was during her college years that she started taking up various modeling assignments.
Career
In 2010, Samantha Ruth Prabhu made her first appearance as the lead actress in the Telugu film “Ye Maaya Chesave,” directed by Gautham Menon. The movie was later remade in Tamil as “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.” Samantha received widespread acclaim for her performance in the film. After that, she acted in Tamil movies like “Baana Kaathadi” and “Moscowin Kavery,” as well as the Telugu film “Brindaavanam.”
In 2011, Samantha starred alongside Mahesh Babu in the blockbuster Telugu film “Dookudu,” which became one of the most successful films in Telugu cinema history. She also appeared in the psychological thriller “Nadunisi Naaygal” and the Hindi remake of “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa” titled “Ekk Deewana Tha.” However, Samantha had to take a break from the industry in 2012 due to a skin disease.
